NB is happy to share the following press release issued this morning.
BOSTON – October 16, 2009 – The Boston Choral Ensemble is pleased to announce the receipt of a $1000 grant from the Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors (CCR) Charitable Foundation to support their outreach efforts in the greater Boston community.
The CCR Charitable Foundation was founded in 2004 to enhance the charitable giving of the CCR and to support organizations that are part of their employees’ lives. Through the foundation, the CCR sponsors and donates toward charitable, arts, and civic organizations throughout New England in keeping with their mission to “give back to the communities where we live and work.” Through supporting these communities, CCR seeks to “help those that are less fortunate and to support the greater good.”
The Boston Choral Ensemble was chosen to receive this grant in recognition and support of their numerous greater Boston community outreach programs, including free concerts performed at the historic Old South Church in Copley Square and educational outreach at Dedham and Quincy High Schools. BCE has also recently established an apprenticeship program with Zumix, an East Boston youth-oriented organization “dedicated to building community through music and the arts.”
Sharing this distinction with the Boston Choral Ensemble are several other local community service organizations including the Community Harvest Project, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Newton Community Service Center, and the Open Shelves Food Pantry.
Upon learning of the grant, the ensemble’s Music Director, Dr. Miguel Felipe, responded: “It’s an honor to receive the generous support of CCR and to be in the company of these other community-minded organizations. As arts groups around the country and world work especially hard in these difficult financial times, the support of groups like CCR and many of our patrons is especially encouraging.”
“We are deeply grateful to CCR for their support,” adds BCE Board President Matthew Baggetta. “It’s a wonderful moment for the BCE when a respected institution like CCR recognizes the importance of the work we are doing throughout the greater Boston area. We look forward to continuing our efforts to join with local communities to share the enriching experience of innovative music.”
